The Gathering Of Vultures by Femi Fani-Kayode

The vultures are circling yet I am not disturbed because they cannot eat my flesh. The wolves are howling yet I shall not retreat because they cannot crush my bones. The bullies are threatening yet I shall not bow because they cannot break my spirit or conquer my soul. The demons are baying yet I shall not fear because they cannot drink my blood. The liars are lying yet I shall not be deterred for I know the Ancient of Days, the mighty God that I serve.

The foxes are plotting yet I shall not be moved and I shall treat them with the contempt and disdain that they deserve. The snakes are hissing yet I am not perturbed knowing that their poison and hate cannot overwhelm or blind me. The dogs are barking yet I continue to rejoice, knowing that lions do not tremble at the bark of an accursed mongrel.

The Accuser of the Brethren has begun his devlish work of slander yet I shall lose no sleep, knowing that in the end truth always prevails. There is evil in the land and the ravenous beasts of our dark forest are roaring, yet I shall not run.

As always, I shall stand and I shall fight. As always I will speak against the persecution of the innocent and the cruelty and injustice of the wicked. As always I will resist the hidden agenda to violate our nations secularity and to Islamise our nation.

As always I shall preach the equality of all men and the humanity of all souls. As always I will stand against the enthronement and the empowerment of bloodthirsty and evil men. As always I shall stand against the terrorists and jihadists in our midst who have wrought destruction on our nation and who have shattered the lives of so many.

As always I shall speak up for the oppressed, the voiceless, the weak, the vulnerable, the misrepresented, the hated and the despised. As always I will resist the cruelty that has been inflicted upon the unlawful captive and those who have been subjected to an unconstitutional, unlawful and indefinite detention.

As always I shall speak against the violation of court orders and the intimidation and humiliation of the Judiciary. As always I shall oppose a foreign policy that turns our nation into a shadow of her once glorious past and nothing more than an appendage of the Salifists and Wahabbists of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

As always I will speak out against violence, genocide, ethnic cleansing and all crimes against humanity. As always I shall speak up for the vulnerable, the weak, the less privilaged and the deprived. As always I shall stand against the tyrants and despots that use their position of power and privilage to destroy the lives of others.

As always I shall stand against state-sponsored murder and politically-inspired and selective criminal prosecutions.

As always I shall speak the bitter truth and voice my support for the self-determination and the liberation of the oppressed ethnic nationalities of Nigeria, including those of the Middle Belt, the south-east and the south-south.

As always I will resist those that abduct our citizens, commit rape, indulge in mass murder and that torment our people with their satanic hordes and demonic herds all in an attempt to subjugate and conquer us and impose their will.

As always I will oppose pedophelia, child rape and the abduction, enslavement and forced islamisation of little girls in distant lands and sinister palaces. As always I will fight a good fight and stand for truth. As always I will stand against the licensing of Churches and the violation of our constitutionally-guaranteed religious freedoms. As always I will stand against those who ban prayers in our schools. As always I will gladly offer my very life as a living sacrifice for my faith and I will defend the honor and dignity of Christianity wherever I go.

No matter what they say or do, as long as God gives me life, I shall never be silenced. I shall fulfill my destiny because His love will see me through and it will nullify their evil projections and manifest hate. The vultures are circling yet I am not disturbed because they cannot eat my flesh. In my case they say it is personal and that they have a score to settle. They say that they have been told by their idol and their little god to ''punish me ruthlessly for my insolence'' and ''to give me hell''.

Others have tried before and I saw their end. I await them: let the God that answers by fire, let Him be my God. In the meantime I count it all as joy, for in the end my innocence shall speak for me and I shall prevail. Until then let them be rest assured of one thing: I have no fear because the Lord is with me. I make my boast in Him and none other.

Without Him I am nothing but with Him I am everything. No matter how long it takes He will never abandon me because I have done absolutely nothing wrong. As long as Jesus is on the throne He will preserve my life and I shall fulfill the purpose for which He gave it to me.

They shall not thwart that purpose, they shall not break me, they shall not destroy me and neither shall they have their wicked way with me. They shall fall into the pit that they have dug for me themselves and their end shall be bitter. The bible says "He suffered no man to do them wrong. He reproved kings for their sake saying 'touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm' ". They seek to touch the anointed of the Lord: let us put God's word to the test.

The Kadarshians gather for Robs birthday(Photos)

Rob Kardashian may be feeling lucky after this birthday celebration. Just two days after turning 29, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star headed to Nobu in Malibu Saturday afternoon where he received quite the party from his immediate family.

Kris Jenner along with daughters Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner enjoyed an early dinner with Rob before the sun began to set along the California coast. Scott Disick, Tyga, Corey Gamble and Kanye West were also in attendance for the evening that also featured a St. Patrick's Day theme.

Guests including Mason Disick and North West received Irish sunglasses and party favors before Kendall gathered the adults around for a group picture overlooking the water.

"The whole restaurant is singing," Kendall was overheard saying as a giant birthday cake featuring a childhood photo of Rob was brought out to the table. Kourtney added, "Kylie and I just want to say Happy Birthday
This weekend's celebration comes after Rob celebrated his actual birthday with girlfriend Blac Chyna by his side. After kicking things off at Legoland theme park in San Diego, the Arthur George sock designer enjoyed a surprisingly low-key day consisting of a trip to the nail salon and a grocery store.
"Chyna got him a few thoughtful gifts and she is giving him attention," a source told E! News. "Chyna has an appearance in Los Angeles on Saturday, so I think they are local and laying low."

Perhaps that's where she was when the Kardashians threw their latest party. According to Snapchat, however, the model was spotted driving around Beverly Hills in her convertible. In fact, she stopped by a seafood restaurant with her BFF before singing loud and proud to her favorite rap songs.
Putting girlfriends aside, Rob appeared to have a great night as he posed for photos in his signature Los Angeles Dodgers cap.

"You are the most amazing man who is kind, funny, smart and you have the best heart," Kris wrote on Instagram when wishing her son a happy birthday. "You are beautiful inside and out and have brought so much joy into my life. I love you soooo much."

Western Governments Knew Where 80 Abducted Chibok Girls Were, British Envoy says

The former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Andrew Pocock, told the Sunday Times that a large group of the missing girls were spotted by British and American surveillance officials shortly after their disappearance on April 14, 2014, but experts felt nothing could be done.

‘Too High Risk’

Dr Pocock was quoted by the Sunday Times as saying that Western governments felt ‘powerless’ to help, as any rescue attempt would have been too high risk – with the Boko Haram terrorists using the girls as human shield.

He said: “A couple of months after the kidnapping, fly-bys and an American eye in the sky spotted a group of up to 80 girls in a particular spot in the Sambisa forest, around a very large tree, called locally the Tree of Life, along with evidence of vehicular movement and a large encampment”.

He told Sunday Times that the girls were there for at least four weeks but authorities were ‘powerless’ to intervene – and the Nigerian government did not ask for help anyway.

“A land-based attack would have been seen coming miles away and the girls killed, an air-based rescue, such as flying in helicopters or Hercules, would have required large numbers and meant a significant risk to the rescuers and even more so to the girls.’

“You might have rescued a few but many would have been killed. My personal fear was always about the girls not in that encampment – 80 were there, but 250 were taken, so the bulk were not there. What would have happened to them? You were damned if you do and damned if you don’t,” he added.

He further told the Sunday Sunday Times Magazine that the information was passed to the Nigerian government but it made no request for help.

Terrorists stormed a secondary boarding school in the remote town of Chibok in Borno state, northern Nigeria in April 14, 2014, and seized over 200 girls who were preparing for their final-year exams.

Although 57 of the girls managed to escape the rest have remained missing and have not been heard from or seen since.

The abduction triggered solidarity protests in different countries with protesters carrying placards mostly written, “Bring Back Our Girls”.

In different intervals, top military officials said they were aware of the girls’ location, but could not launch an attack on the terrorists, fearing it could lead to civilian casualties.

Ese Oruru: Secret love letter teenager allegedly wrote to Yunusa before abduction revealed

There are indications that Ese Oruru, the abducted Bayelsa-born teenage girl may have been in a relationship with her alleged abductor before she was whisked to Kano state.
This follows some fresh revelations suggesting that a sort of intimacy could have existed between the two.

The teenager, a native of Delta State and resident in Bayelsa state, was allegedly abducted on August 12, 2015 and taken from Yenagoa to Kano where she was converted to Islam and married by her abductor, Yunusa Dahiru, aka Yellow.

Her abductor, Yunusa, in an interview shortly after his arraignment had claimed responsibility for the five-month old pregnancy Ese is currently carrying, however, he alleged that the girl’s mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru was aware of their relationship before the alleged abduction incident.

Although Mrs. Oruru had denied knowledge on the involvement of Ese and Yunusa in any love relationship, Vanguard has reported that the duo may have had an intimate relationship.

In an undated letter, the 14-year-old teenager was alleged to have said that her abductor, Yunusa asked for three things which included following him to Kano; drop her Christian religion for Islam and love only him, in the bid to cement their love affair.

The letter was titled: ‘Pls read & reply me Inusa.’

Dear, Inusa how are you? I hope you are fine and all is well with you?

“Please don’t be annoyed by these words but I think it is best for the both of us. Please please please don’t be annoyed I beg of you Inusa, maybe everyone just have to say the truth.

I want to start by saying thank you for everything if accepted, thank you yanzu, I would say I now know what is going on which you never wanted to tell me but I will say that is not fair.”

Ese, in the letter professed love to Yunusa, disclosing she had refused friendship requests from four other Hausa boys.

Furthermore, the letter reads:

“When I started selling here, I met Abubakar who once told me that he had fellings for me but I can never send because I did not have fellings for him, so I turned him down.

“Then again I met Genedu and I also turned him down.

“Now, it is Dantata which everybody knows that he loves me dearly but I find a lot of faults in him and don’t love him back. He has done his best to stay down and beg about one year now, if I am right, I will never lie to you Inusa.

“Dantata has been begging me to love him back but as soon as I wanted to fall for him you came back into my life. I still know that Dantata is still waiting for me only if I will accept him.

“Inusa I now know that you also love me and I have decided to love you back. I love you Inusa but sometimes I do think Dantata is still seeking.

“My name as known by myself is RITA and my main problem is that if I love you (Inusa) and you also love me what will become of us.

“You once told me you like me more than anyone else, but now I have seen how far you have gone in this case because it is very serious to me.

ou asked me to help you in just three ways in which you said:

“Follow me to my village – Kano State

“Leave your religion for mine – Christian & Muslim

“It is only you I love and no other person.

“I have already accepted the first quest then while decide to tell me that you cannot take me along with you the same day it is very unfair. Inusa why, just tell me why you decide to be unfair.

“Well Inusa there were many other Hausa boys who asked for friendship but did not get it. I had so many people who I have lived with do you know what it means to live the people you had lived with for 13 good years of life.

“Think on me Inusa please

“I beg of you Inusa please

“Think of me

“My heart beats immediately or anytime I see you if you know how much I love you you will not think about hurting my feelings.

“I still stand by you Inusa, yeallo yellow my best colour but one question who made you think.

“I write this because I am sick and tired of this baldadash I hear everyday.

“You should know this Genedu, Abubakar, Saidu are humans for crying out loud. Inusa to conclude this, taught you can solve this problem by just one thing.

“Your address and your phone number, maybe if we have to go one by one we shall do just that.

“No matter what happens I still love you Inusa

“No matter what the case may be I still love you Inusa

“From yours dearly Rita a.k.a Ese.”

The authenticity of the letter cannot exactly be verified.

20-year-old girl allegedly bites neighbour to death

A 20-year-old girl identified as Ogbonna Onyinyechi who allegedly bit one Engineer Pius Ezema to death at 15, Ondo Street, Okobaba in Ebute Metta area of Lagos state, has revealed what led to the incident.
The suspect who has been in detention at Denton Police Station since the incident which occurred on March 12, said Pius quarrelled with her for singing loudly near his window in the ‘face-me-I -face-you’ apartment where they lived as next door neighbours.

The argument was said to have developed into a fierce fight which led to biting and the eventual death of the victim two days after.

But Onyinyechi, narrating what transpired between her and the deceased to National Mirror, said she did not kill her neighbour as alleged.

According to her, she only defended herself from the deceased’s brutal attack.
“Pius is not my boyfriend and he had never asked me out. He has a fiancée and they were planning to get married in July this year.

“After the beating I received from him that morning, I became too scared to sleep in my room alone. That night, I went to my friend’s house to sleep.

“I came back on March 14, two days after he fought me and I learnt that Pius was dead. I was shocked. I asked our neighbours who killed him? How did he die? They told me that Pius did not come out of his
room the previous day and his brother was worried as he could not reach him on his mobile phone so he decided to check him in his room.

“They said the brother knocked and knocked but Pius did not answer.
They attempted to break his door but still he did not respond. When they finally forced his door opened, they found him laying face up and foaming from his mouth.

“My neighbours told me that I killed Pius with my bite. I was confused. I don’t know what they were talking about. Some neighbours told me to run away but I refused since I know that I did not poison
him.

“The police later came from Denton Police station and arrested me.
They said my teeth was poisonous and caused Pius’ death.

“I don’t intend to kill Pius. I am a Catholic and I forgave him all he did to me. I want police and government to carry out an autopsy on Pius and they should conduct medical examination on my teeth. I don’t know why I am in this mess but God will see me through,” she stated.

Meanwhile, police sources reportedly said the case is still under investigations and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

Uche Jombo talks career and new film with Omoni Oboli

Is there any reason you took a break from acting for about two years?

I went to give birth to my baby and I had to take care of the baby. Before I knew it, two years had gone by but I am back now. However, I never really left; I was not just around physically. My studio was still producing movies and they were still working with other actors. I do not have any plan of leaving Nollywood and that is why I have invested heavily in this industry via my equipment, studio and the content of my movies. I don’t intend to go anywhere.

Has it always been your dream to become an actress?

I wish I was one of those people that would say that they have always wanted to be an actress, but that was not the case with me. I would say my case was a typical example of opportunity meeting favour and also being at the right place at the right time.

I went to deliver something for somebody around a place where an audition was taking place. I was mistaken for an actor and I was given a script to read. I read it and I was chosen but I was not paid a dime for the job.

So your first job was done for free?

Not just my first job, about five other ones I did after that were done for free.

At what stage did you begin to earn money from acting?

I guess I was just consistent. I was an underdog for a long time and what took some people about a year or two to achieve, it took me about six years to become a household name. The movie, Games men play, shot me into the A-list level.

There was a tweet Chioma Chukwuka-Apotha posted where she claimed that people who she thought were her sisters weren’t, somehow you were part of the rant, was it for publicity stunt?

I have a publicist and I would want him to earn his pay, I would not make his work easier by creating a publicity stunt. I always tell people, if you are involved in the serious problems facing Nollywood, you will not have time for such rubbish. If you are a Nollywood investor thinking about how to sell your content and beat piracy or broaden our distribution network, you would not think of such nonsense.

Having said that, it was a small misunderstanding blown out of proportion but I like the fact that people saw it as a publicity stunt. That is probably a better version than what really happened. It was a misunderstanding. Chioma Chukwuka-Apotha had an agreement with somebody and it did not go as planned. She did not see herself in the situation she was supposed to be, she said something and someone else reacted and that was it.

How has your relationship been with her since then?

We have a very good relationship. I know that the Nigerian media wished we had a beef but the truth is that there is no time for that. There is really no permanent enemy in this industry. I really wish I had the strength for that but I do not. I don’t have that much time on my hands.

How has motherhood been?

It is an awesome experience. Nobody prepared me for the kind of love and affection I would have for my child. When I felt saw my baby, I thought he was switched at birth because he was too fair. When they first gave me the baby I looked at him and I was dazed because he was literally white. I wondered whether they had switched my child when my husband was not around but the nurse that was nearby seemed to have read my mind and she told me not to worry that my baby would still turn dark after some days. They tell you about the love but nothing really prepares you for it, it is very overwhelming.

How did you cope with the changes in your body due to the pregnancy?

To me at that point, Mathew’s pregnancy was a miracle because I had given up about getting pregnant. When I realised I was pregnant, I was not really particular about the changes in my body. I was more or less scared. I lived in fear for about six months during pregnancy because I was scared of having another miscarriage, so it was not really about how I looked. To be honest, I really did not care about my looks.

How were you able to get into shape in such a short time?

It is a gradual process and I am still working on my body. Running around a child alone is enough workout. However, I work out three times a day and I also go to work. That helps me to burn some fat. I just ensure that I don’t let anyone tell me what I should weigh at a particular time in my life.

Is that why you lashed out at a fan who made comments about your weight on your Instagram page?

I would not say I lashed out at anyone; it was more like a ‘no time for nonsense’ reply. It is my page and I can’t say I would not read comment that people post there because that is how I interact with my fans. If I go to a blog and read negative comments on me, I can blame it on myself. If you want to post a negative comment about me, go to a blog and do so and not on my page. For two weeks, this person persistently mentioned how fat I was anytime I posted a picture as if I did not have a mirror or a scale at home. I know where I am coming from and how hard I have worked to improve on myself, so I don’t need such comments on my page. I have never been a slim person in my life. The slimmest I have ever been in my life is a size 8 and I am a size ten right now, so how is that a problem. I just need that to stop. If I am promoting a film, I expect that you comment on my work, it is my page and I decide what goes on there. So it is not as if I lashed out at a fan, I would say that I did that to reset the person’s brain.

Since you had the tendency to be fat, did you decide to shed some weight because of your work?

Yes, at the beginning of my career, I was a plus sized person but I decided to shed some weight because I knew I needed to stay trim and fit. I had to discipline myself. It was easy because I know my body type. The same way I tell people that when it comes to fashion, you don’t have to dress because the item is in vogue; dress based on your body type. That is what I do. I know my body type and I dress according to what suits me.

Have you ever considered bleaching your skin?

No, I have never considered such. I can never do such because I know how hard I fought to be where I am with my skin colour. Do you know how hard it was for dark-skinned actresses to play lead roles during the early stages of Nollywood? Now that we have started playing lead roles, why would I go and bleach? That is like slapping the faces of people who gave me that opportunity. Back then, it was very rare and difficult for dark-skinned ladies to play lead roles which was wrong anyway because it is like misdirecting the younger ones. I can never bleach my skin.

So it was tougher for a dark-skinned person to bag a lead role?

That was how it was in the beginning. I think Genevieve and Uche Osotule broke that jinx. At that time, that was the norm in Nollywood. They just preferred light-skinned people but with time, it was no longer about your skin colour but what you could put on the table. Before, if you were fair in complexion, even if you could not act, the role would be given to you and that is why I said that Nollywood is a revolving industry.

What is your fashion fetish?

It is shoes, I love shoes and I have a lot of them. Like I always say, if you don’t have the height, you buy it. I love shoes with high heels.

Have you always wished to be a tall person?

No, I love the way I am short. It encourages me to buy shoes.

What would you never be caught wearing?

I would say crazy jeans, although I have one, it is not as torn as some worn by people. The crazy way people tear their jeans sometimes makes me wonder if they are really crazy. I would not wear the crazy ones.

Has motherhood changed your fashion sense in any way?

Not really, I would just say that I cannot wear some certain clothes I would love to wear till I get to a certain size; till I get back to my pre-pregnancy size. Now, I am dressing for my size and my comfort.

What are you currently working on?

We are actually promoting a film by Omoni Oboli, Wives on strike. It is about a group of village women who get together to protest something they think is wrong and their agitation is successful in their own little way. The women feel that it is wrong for a grown man to want to marry a child. They feel the child needs to be protected and when they voice out, nothing happens, so they decide to go on strike. There are other components in the movie that show that the movie is not fully comic in nature because it passes a strong message to the viewers.

I believe it is God that delayed the release of the movie till this time because we shot the movie in 2014. Child’s Rights Act and the protection of the girl child are what people are talking about especially because of the Ese Oruru story. The movie is opening people’s eyes because there are so many cases like that but they are swept under the carpet. The movie shows what women can achieve if they come together. It is an advocacy film with comic relief.

As a mother, how do you feel when you read stories on child marriage?

Each time I read about such stories, I feel broken. There is the need to protect the girl child in our country. Before I became a woman and a mother, I was a girl child. We don’t need to tell anyone that a child must be protected. The girl child law is there and it should be implemented and taken seriously in all states. These children need to be in school. We owe it to the children to enrol them in school. That is my personal opinion. I don’t think any right thinking person should have a contrary opinion.

The senate recently dropped a bill that would enable gender equality. What is your opinion on this development?

I don’t have anything to say to the senate yet because it is sad that they would drop such a bill. They owe it to the people who put them there to actually pass the right bill. I have always known that being a woman means that I should always work twice as hard as men and I have always encouraged other women to have this same mindset regardless of your profession. Personally, I would want women to excel where men fail. I may sound biased but that is the only way to get ahead in this situation. If you do not pass a bill on gender equality, it means that you are indirectly telling me that I am a lesser being, so I have to work twice as hard. If you have that mindset, you would know that it is an advantage being a woman, because being a woman means you should succeed.

P-Square Is NOT Breaking Up

Paul Okoye released a statement few hours ago, via his Instagram account, about the issue(s) him and his brother have been facing in recent times. Just like the song he released few weeeks ago titled – “Call Heaven“, Paul bares his mind on his statement and asked fans and show promoters, not to propagate or entertain the slight idea of them splitting up. He also partly blamed social media for not respecting their privacy and blowing their family issues out of proportion.

Peter Okoye, the second half of super-star duo P-Square, just recently released his own statement, via his twitter account, that P-Square is NOT breaking up. According to him, the only bone of contention now is their management, and it also looks like Peter wants nothing to do with their manager who happen to be their elder brother – Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye.

What a relief for millions of fans all over the world whom have been advocating for a reconciliation between the brothers.

Infact, both Peter and Paul (P-Square) have been scheduled to perform together at Europe’s leading Latin and Caribbean indoor festival “Festival Pal Mundo”, come March 26th.

Check out their statements below.

Paul Okoye:

All you all want is psquare,…all I want is family, love and care!!! Social media is the new root of all evil!! There’s family before Psquare and there will always be family after PSquare ….Jude was only a scape goat and a victim .The person who has been keeping us together for all these years,..the truth is peter and Paul have issues!.For the first time I decided to do something outside Psquare ,and that is the case study here.I have always supported my brother 100% from His personal endorsements to dance with Peter which some re still on my I.g… Now I have just 3 questions….Why is it that these things are happening immediately I realized muno’s singles under rudeboy Recordz. no.2 .. How come after jude stopped managing psquare for over a month now, the problem still exist. No.3 why is he in a hurry to go solo and doing solo?it’s very sad, and very heart broken I wish these things never came out to the public at first… Now our fans are divided  pls nobody shld support any teamPaul sh*t, I don’t need that.. Pls resist from it cos thats evil…and for those of you promoters ,supporting him to be performing psquare’s songs alone on stage, you are only killing us and destroying us the more .Dear brother am begging you ,even if you don’t want Jude anymore and you don’t want psquare, u re forever going to be my brother … But I wish the 3 of us could still do these together, bcos its a thing of joy….people love us so much not only because of our good music but seeing brothers doing it together and keeping it together, setting a good example to other families and to our kids.Pls swallow ur pride, forgive and forget, we can still turn these things around…. If I have said anything or done anything that hurts you. Am very sorry…. And to all our true fans pls pray for us. God bless you all.

Peter Okoye:

Hi guys. Thanks for the love and support, I so much appreciate everyone of you.
For public record, I don’t have any issues with my brother Paul the only issue I have is with the management which I have disassociated myself with. There is a clear line between family and business, Jude still remains my brother, he is just no longer my manager. For the record also, P’square still remains, the only difference is that we are under separate managements and there is nothing wrong with that. I see no wrong in doing separate projects and and still being together as P’square. I love my brother Paul, I support him and wish him the very best in life but misguiding the media is not the right thing to do, if we have issues as brothers, the right thing to do is settle it between ourselves and not give media something to feed on. I took family issues to the public when I went on a Twitter rant but I apologised for that, you shouldn’t do the same, making me look like a bad person and giving the public an opportunity to crucify me is not a solution. You went solo first by releasing a song with ‘Tiwa’ and your new artists. This doesn’t stop us from producing good music together or giving our fans the best of P’square, it’s just time for personal development. I am not against Rudeboy Records, northside entertainment and wish you the very best. Thanks for the love once again. God bless you all. #PSquareForever #Mr.P #Rudeboy.

If a new management is what Peter is suggesting, and if a new management is what the P-Square brand needs to put an end to this exhausting parade of domestic disputes, then it is only fair to let them have what they want.

Cow and herdsmen invade BRT lane

As the nation appears to be helpless on the activities of the Fulani herdsmen, causing incessant clashes and killings in several rural and semi urban areas, Lagos is having its own share of this misdemeanour, as they take their cattle through the Bus Rapid Transport, BRT lane along Ikorodu road, Lagos, constituting traffic hazards to motorists, BRT buses and other road users.

Last week, several cow and their herdsmen were spotted on the Ajegunle axis, and a few days ago, they were also spotted at the Itowolo axis blocking traffic flow on the BRT corridor. We gathered that the timely intervention of the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI officials saved the situation.

Reacting to the development, members of the House of Assembly took turn to condemn the act and calling for drastic action to taken against the herdsmen.

In a motion moved by the Majority leader Sanai Agunbiade, he noted that cattle rearers now take to BRT lanes which has no grass to graze for their cattle, between Owode Onirin and Mile 12 at noon.

Agunbiade said “Surprisingly I saw some Fulani herdsmen taking their cattle on Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, lane in Ikorodu around 10pm and someone on internet shared a picture of same act along Mile12/ Owode Onirin also in Ikorodu in broad day.”

He also stated that there was the need to call the attention of the government and relevant agencies, particularly, the BRT monitoring team to put an end to this ugly development.

Hon. Wahab Jimoh who represents Apapa Constituency I reiterated that the Fulani are also grazing at Mobil Road in Apapa and they are also slaughtering cows in an unauthorized places in the area. “There is the need to use the necessary law to penalize them.” Meanwhile the House resolved to call on the Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to direct necessary agencies to enforce the state traffic law that will check the movement of cows particularly on the BRT lane, while, Commissioner for Information and Strategy should intensify awareness campaign in Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo languages on movement of cows on our major roads, as well as using only authorized abattoirs in the state.

Stella Damasus says Senate’s rejection of Gender Equality Bill is bad, unacceptable

Popular Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus, on Thursday expressed displeasure over the rejection of the Gender Equality Bill by the Senate.
Damasus, who is also a women rights activist, condemned the senate’s decision in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
“This is totally unacceptable!

“We must go to every government representative to show them how bad and unacceptable it is.

“If every woman who is a mother, wife, sister, aunt or even neighbour to any senator, governor, minister … cannot speak to them about this, then, let us all go to bed,’’ she said.

Damasus said it was time for every woman to be involved in the struggle for their collective interests, instead of living it as the responsibility of a few concerned ones.

“If every African woman cannot rise up to fight for their rights, and the rights of their daughters, then, why should anyone listen or care?.”

“I am tired of seeing the same people fight for the rights of women and children, risking their lives every day, while others act like they do not care”, she said.

The actress said that the cause for women would be lost if women did not stand united and speak with one voice in their bid to fight against marginalisation.

NAN reports that the bill seeking gender equality, sponsored by the Deputy Minority Whip of the Senate, Biodun Olujimi, was rejected by the Senate over alleged constitutional violations.

This is the third time the Gender Equality Bill is being rejected by the National Assembly, and the recent rejection has generated a lot of reactions from women right groups.

EFCC, CCB release details of how Saraki used public funds to buy properties while he was Governor

The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have revealed details on the allegations of corruption, theft and money laundering perpetrated by the Senate President,Bukola Saraki while he was the governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.
In a joint response to Saraki’s claim that his trial at the CCT was a witch-hunt, the CCB and EFCC made the revelation yesterday, showing how Saraki allegedly amassed properties in Lagos, Abuja and London, using Kwara State’s funds.

The joint response was contained in the counter-affidavit filed by the prosecution in the trial of Saraki on charges of false assets declaration and corruption.

Both bodies also revealed how the Senate President allegedly diverted Kwara State funds through Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB, Plc into his personal foreign account, and with which he purchased a property in London.

Commenting on the affidavit, one Peter Danladi, an official of the CCB, said the investigation of the various petitions of corruption, theft, money laundering, among others, against Saraki in 2010, was conducted jointly by the officials of the EFCC, CCB and the DSS.

He said, “The EFCC conducted its investigation on the various petitions and made findings which showed that the defendant/applicant abused his office, while he was the governor of Kwara State and was involved in various acts of corruption as the governor of the state.

“The defendant/applicant borrowed huge sums of money running into billions from commercial banks, particularly Guaranty Trust Bank, and used the proceeds of the loan to acquire several landed properties in Lagos, Abuja and London, while he was the governor of Kwara State.

“As against the defendant using his own legitimate income to defray the loan, he took public funds, running into billions from Kwara State Governemnt and lodged same in several tranches and in cash into his GTB account in GRA (Government Reservation Area), Ilorin, Kwara State.

“The defendant/applicant’s account officer in GTB confirmed that the defendant/applicant gave him several cash in the Government House to lodge into the account and on some occasions, the defendant sent his aides from the Government House to give him the cash for lodgement into his account.

“When the EFCC submitted its report to its legal department and the Federal Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Justice formed the opinion that the offences revealed from the investigation, particularly as they relate to the properties acquired by the defendant/applicant, while he was governor of Kwara State and various monies sent into his various accounts outside Nigeria can be better handled through the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

“The office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) then sent the findings and the evidence gathered during investigation by the EFCC as a complaint to the Code of Conduct Bureau for investigation and that the operatives of the EFCC would collaborate with the officers of the CCB for effective
investigation.

“Our investigation on the CCB Assets Declaration Forms for public officers filed by the defendant/respondent revealed the following:

“The landed property listed as No.42 Gerald Road, Ikoyi was visited by Mr. Ikechi Iwuagwu (Deputy Director,CCB), Miss. Geraldine Longsten (DSS) and Adamu Garba (EFCC) sometime in 2006 and discovered that the property was under construction.

“Contrary to the declaration by the defendant that he was earning an annual income of N110,000,000 from No.42 Gerald Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, there were no tenants in the property as same was an empty land as at the time of the declaration.

“Contrary to the declaration by the defendant that he owned 15A and 15B McDonald, Ikoyi, Lagos as at the time of the declaration in 2003, our investigation revealed that the said properties were acquired in 2006 from the Implementation Committee on Federal Government Landed properties through his companies called Tiny Tee Limited and Vitti Oil Limited wherein he paid the sum of N396,150,000 to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

“The defendant made an anticipatory declaration for the said 15A and 15B, Ikoyi, Lagos. The defendant acquired the properties in the name of two companies because he could not buy two Federal Government properties in his personal name.

“The defendant bidded for and acquired 17, 17A and 17B McDonald, Ikoyi, Lagos from the Implementation Committee on Federal Government Landed Property and paid an aggregate sum of N497,200,000 to the Federal Government between October 2006 and 2007.

“A scrutiny of the defendant’s salary account with the Intercontinental Bank (now Access Bank) account No: 0100857813 reveals that his monthly take home salary as at the time he acquired the property was not more than N500,000 and the defendant acquired properties far in excess of his income.”

Hulk Hogan Awarded $115 Million in Privacy Suit Against Gawker

The retired wrestler Hulk Hogan was awarded $115 million in damages on Friday by a Florida jury in an invasion of privacy case against Gawker.com over its publication of a sex tape — an astounding figure that tops the $100 million he had asked for, that will probably grow before the trial concludes, and that could send a cautionary signal to online publishers despite the likelihood of an appeal by Gawker.

The wrestler, known in court by his legal name, Terry G. Bollea, sobbed as the verdict was announced in late afternoon, according to people in the courtroom. The jury had considered the case for about six hours.

Mr. Bollea’s team said the verdict represented “a statement as to the public’s disgust with the invasion of privacy disguised as journalism,” adding: “The verdict says, ‘No more.’ ”

The damages awarded to Mr. Bollea on Friday were compensatory: $55 million for economic harm and $60 million for emotional distress. Punitive damages will be established separately, which raises the prospect that Gawker will have to submit to a detailed examination of its finances in court so the jury can assess the scale of the damages.

Gawker’s founder, Nick Denton, said in his own statement that the jury did not hear all the facts. “We feel very positive about the appeal that we have already begun preparing, as we expect to win this case ultimately,” he said.

The meaning of the verdict will not be clear for some time. But the perception that a Manhattan media company, noted for its wry tone and its insistence that nearly any topic is fair game, was brought low by a celebrity fighting for privacy is most likely to resonate widely across the industry.

At issue in the case, in Pinellas County Circuit Court, was a grainy black-and-white tape made in the mid-2000s, which showed Mr. Bollea having sex with the wife of a friend of his at the time, Todd Clem, a radio shock jock who had legally changed his name to Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

Only In Nigeria!! – Policeman In Ogun State Arrests 8 Year Old For The Most Insane Reason Ever!!

Eight-year-old pupil of Prospect Primary School, Akute, Ogun State, Oyindamola Onimole, has been detained by the Ajuwon Police Division.

Oyindamola, who was held by the police between 6pm on Wednesday and 12pm on Thursday, was arrested by a policeman from the station for reporting a teacher in the school, identified simply as Mrs. Oni, to his mother.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Oni, who is the wife of one of the policemen at the station, had maltreated Oyindamola at school and the pupil reported her to his mother, Mrs. Nimota Onimole, who subsequently stormed the school and complained about the assault.

After the mother left, the teacher was said to have descended on the child again for daring to report her to his mother.

A source in the school said, “After school hours, the teacher called her husband and he stormed the house of the pupil and arrested the minor.

“When Mrs. Onimole (Nimota) returned from work about 10pm, neighbours told her about the ordeal of her son. She left for the police station to ascertain what had happened. The mother, who went to the police station to bail her child, was also detained.”

Oyindamola’s father, Olalekan Omole, confirmed on Thursday that his wife and son were detained by the police.

He said, “At about 6.30pm, the teacher and her policeman husband, went to our house and forcibly took my son. They used okada (motorcycle) to pick my son.

“When my wife returned about 10pm and got to the station around 10.30pm, requesting to get her child released, she was equally detained at the station.

All this happened because of the influence of the teacher, whose husband happened to be a policeman at the station.

“My two remaining children slept alone at home that night. I had to consult a lot of people to wade in and get justice for my family.

“But today (Thursday), at about 12pm, my son and my wife were released by the police.” Olalekan, who expressed outrage at the detention of the minor, said he would contact his lawyer to take the matter up. Oyindamola’s father added that he had informed the school proprietor about Mrs. Oni’s alleged misconduct.

Meet the toddler who eats PAINT, carpet, washing powder, stones - and even insects

A toddler is literally eating her family out of house and home because of a rare condition that makes her crave everything from the carpets to paint. Three-year-old Maddie Moore has consumed washing powder, cooking oil, clumps of carpet, stones, plaster, wood, plastic, sand, duct tape, bugs, paint, pens, Play-Doh and toilet roll. The youngster suffers from Pica, a rare impulsive disorder meaning she has cravings to eat non-food substances. Even the children’s centre she goes to has taken the unusual step of making her edible toys to keep her safe. Her mum Catherine Mullins has to keep a constant eye on Maddie to make sure she doesn’t choke or eat something that could damage her insides.

Catherine, 26, said: “She’s certainly unique. Most professionals who meet her say they’ve never met a child quite like Maddie. “If she could, she would eat everything. I’m always worried about what she’ll try to eat next. Everything goes to her mouth. “Sometimes, I have to put my fingers in her mouth and hook the food out to stop her choking.

“You literally can’t take your eyes off her for a minute so our house never shuts down.” She noticed Maddie started putting strange objects in her mouth just before she turned one, when she began crawling. Maddie’s behaviour prompted tests and assessments at her two-year health check and she was diagnosed with Pica in September last year. She also suffers from autism, developmental delay and sensory process disorder, which causes her to bounce, spin and climb at any opportunity. At night she has to be zipped into a specialist bed to stop her harming herself while her parents and four-year-old sister Lilly sleep.

Catherine is kept so busy supervising her daughter she has lost three stone. Pica is an eating disorder most common in people with learning disabilities and during pregnancy. It can be potentially life-threatening, with risks ranging from vomiting, constipation and infections to blockages in the gut and intestines, choking and poisoning. In some cases surgery may be needed to remove objects from an individual’s gut or to repair tissue injuries. Maddie has never had to go to hospital but is often at the doctors for digestive illnesses.
As she gets older, her interest in normal food has worsened and she only eats foods of a particular colour and texture - like potato waffles, fish fingers and chicken burgers.Catherine said: “It started with her picking up and eating small items of fluff and paper, any bits she could find from the floor. “Then her cravings became more and more intense. We can’t have anything on the walls like displays or paintings because she’ll eat them. “Lilly can’t do any drawing or crafts because Maddie will eat the pencils and paints. “I literally have to hide anything dangerous. We have child locks but she’s very clever and susses them out. “Yesterday she ate a whole pack of chalks when I wasn’t looking, but her favourites are Play-Doh, sand and dirt.”
Maddie goes to a special educational needs group run by Barnardo’s and staff have made her edible playdough with condensed milk. Charlotte Turton, a Barnardo’s project worker at the centre, said: “We’ve always made our own playdough with salt, flour and water but Maddie was eating a lot of it and it has too much salt in it to be edible so it wasn’t really good for her. “I found a different recipe made with just condensed milk and cornflour and I make that every week instead so we don’t have to worry about how much she eats. “I flavour it with different things so she gets different smells and flavours, which is good for sensory play. We’ve made it with peppermint, almond, coffee and even curry.”
Catherine hasn’t been able to go back to work as a childminder as she and dad Sonny Moore, 29, have to care for Maddie round the clock. The family live in a small two-bedroom flat in Bournemouth, Dorset, but have appealed to the council for a bigger home so Lilly and Maddie can have their own rooms.

“I can’t go anywhere with her - not even to a cafe or the supermarket," said Catherine. “Our flat is so small, there isn’t space to even use the sensory equipment we have been funded which would really help Maddie.
“It’s hard because due to her condition she can’t go outside much either. She needs to be safe because of her complex needs so to have somewhere where she could have the space to play and Lilly could rest too, would be a dream come true. “Nothing in our life is normal, every aspect is affected and it’s very tough on Lilly too. “Every day is a struggle but she’s worth it. Maddie is such a character. “I feel really lucky because she is so quirky and different. I love her so much.”

Getting your eyebrows right

According to brow experts, creating the perfect eyebrows is perfectly simple. Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen, also known as Miss Fame , says there are five simple steps.

"The first thing you're going to do is comb your hairs up to see where they need to be filled in, starting from the front working towards the tail of the brow."

Then measure up - the best brow will be in alignment with your inner tear duct.

Next, apply some matte shadow to fill in the underside of the brow where it needs it.

Then, add detail: "Then adding a little bit more fullness to the front for that supermodel thickness, you're going to take the Brow Pen and you're going to just draw in hairs right at the front towards the nose and then you're also going to add more density to the tail."

Finally, finish with clear gel to set the perfect look.

Man who 'stole neighbour's PS4 was caught after he kept it connected to owner's WIFI'

A man has been arrested amid claims he stole his neighbour's PS4 - which police say they discovered when he left it connected to its original owner's WIFI.

Phillip D Booker has been charged with the theft of the console as well as two televisions, a laptop, and other assorted items. Police say that the burglary victim returned to his flat in Nashville, Tennessee, from a holiday and found some of his belongings missing.
A few days later, his phone alerted him that his PS4 had powered up - and showed it was still connected to his own WIFI.

He called the police and explained the situation and that the PS4 must still be close, and they report that they searched Booker's flat. Inside, they claim they found the victim's PS4, laptop and a small amount of marijuana.

Booker admitted to "shouldering open" the man's front door according to police, who add he also said he pawned his two televisions and a tablet.
The charges of aggravated burglary and possession of a controlled substance have been brought by the police.

Britain's Highest Mountain Just Got Higher

Experts have revealed that the mountain is officially one metre taller than previously thought.

According to a new Ordnance Survey (OS) calculation, it stands at 1,345m rather than 1,344m - the height recorded when the mountain was last measured in 1949.

Surveyors say the change is not down to geological movements. In other words, Ben Nevis has not grown.

Rather, it is the result of improvements in technology that allow for a more accurate reading.

Back in 1949, it took a team of seven surveyors 20 nights to measure the mountain.

The new measurement was calculated by positioning a survey grade GPS receiver at the summit of Ben Nevis for just two hours.

The exact height of the mountain was found to be 1,344.527m, meaning it can now be rounded up to 1,345m officially.

"What is amazing is how close the surveyors in 1949 were," said OS geodetic consultant Mark Greaves, who was the first person to discover the change.

"The measured height has changed by centimetres, but those centimetres mean we now need to round up rather than down. So that's why Ben Nevis will now be officially known as 1,345m."

Field surveyor Angus Hemmings added the process involved in making the new calculation had given him a "greater sense of respect" for the 1949 surveyors.

"Each day they hauled 200lbs of equipment up Ben Nevis and its surrounding mountains," he said.

"They also had to wait till night, because strong lights were shone from the trig pillars of the other mountains on to Ben Nevis, which enabled them to collect their data.

"It took the surveyors 20 nights because they only had three clear nights in that period to get it right.

"To do the best possible job it had to be run with military precision, everything they did had to be timed to perfection. Their effort and accuracy is remarkable."

This special effect artist's gruesome designs are so realistic, they'll make your stomach churn

At first glance, the pictures on New Zealander's Zoe Armstrong's Instagram feed look like stills from a zombie apocalypse film.

Or, for that matter, any film which has a heavy blood and gore element.

Please don't view while eating, the talented theatre student's work ranges from gunshot wounds, lacerations, protruding bones and even a hand stripped of its skin (which, by the way, is her personal favourite).

Gruesome? Yes. Realistic? Definitely.

Initially, her forays into special effects make-up were something she did in her spare time, inspired by a short series of YouTube tutorials about Halloween make-up created by Alexys Fleming of MadeULook.
